Strangers
shuffle onto
your map.
Reshuffl replaces the infinite swipe feed with a live map of the people actually around you — and opens chat only when both sides reach out.
The problem
Dating apps optimised the feed and lost the neighbourhood.
The dominant model is a deck of strangers ranked by an algorithm, judged in a quarter of a second, and messaged into silence. Three things break at once.
A photo decides everything
Profiles are consumed at swipe speed. Depth never gets read, so the people who interview badly in one frame never get seen at all.
"2 km away" means nothing
Location is a filter, not the experience. You match with someone across the city, and neither of you ever closes the gap.
Volume beats intent
Unlimited right-swipes make attention worthless. Inboxes fill with messages nobody meant, and the reply rate collapses for everyone.
Replace with your own sourced market evidence before you present — e.g. category reply rates, churn, or the download-to-paid funnel for incumbents.
The solution
The map is the feed.
Reshuffl's home screen is not a stack of cards. It is the ground you are standing on, with the people near you placed on it. Two rules make it work.
- A 5 km unlock ring. You can see profiles beyond it, but you can only act on the ones you could realistically meet. Scarcity comes from geography, not from a paywall.
- Mutual outreach before chat. "Can we speak!" is a deliberate request. The room opens only when both people send one — so every conversation starts with two yeses.
The result is a smaller, denser, more local pool where a message actually means something.
Map home · within 5 kmHow it works
Three moves, in order.
Explore
Open the app to a live map of strangers around you. Anyone inside your 5 km ring is reachable; anyone outside appears but stays locked. Pro and Elite can pan and zoom into other areas.
Reach out
Read the profile — gallery, prompts, opening moves, intent — then tap "Can we speak!". Free accounts get 20 requests a day, which keeps outreach considered.
Connect
When you have both reached out, the chat room opens in real time with push notification, read receipts on Elite, and no cold-open inbox.
Product · Discovery
Locality as a game mechanic.
The map streams nearby profiles in batches as you move, ranked by distance and intent overlap. Exact coordinates are never exposed — positions are approximated and only a rough distance is shown.
- Locked vs unlocked — distance decides who you can act on, which turns the map into a reason to move rather than scroll.
- Travel and ghost pins — paid members can plant a pin elsewhere, which monetises intent instead of rationing matches.
- Date and BFF modes — you are only shown to people in the same mode, so friendship and dating never contaminate each other.

Enough substance to be worth a conversation.
Onboarding is an 18-step guided build: cover and avatar, gallery, tagline and bio, interests, prompts, opening moves, intent, lifestyle, and optional social links — with a community-values acknowledgement before anyone goes live.
- Declared intent — from "a life partner" to "fun, casual dates", capped at two choices, and used directly in ranking.
- Verification — profile review is included on every tier, including free, because trust cannot be a premium feature.
- Granular privacy — gender, age and distance visibility are the member's call, not a default.
Product · Conversation
An inbox where every thread was invited.
Chat is real-time over sockets, with offline caching, push delivery, media and voice notes, and read receipts on Elite. Because the room only exists after mutual outreach, there is no unsolicited-message surface to moderate.
No open DMs means the most common harassment vector in the category simply does not exist in the product.
Requests, replies and follow-through are measurable per member — the ranking input incumbents cannot easily copy without breaking their own funnel.
Inbox · requests + chatsWhy this is different
Same market. Opposite mechanics.
| Dimension | Swipe-deck apps | Proximity / social feeds | Reshuffl |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary surface | Ranked card stack | Grid or list of nearby users | A live map you stand on |
| Role of distance | A filter setting | A sort order | A hard unlock boundary at 5 km |
| First contact | Silent swipe, then wait | Open DMs to anyone | Explicit request, both sides, then chat |
| Scarcity comes from | Paywalled likes | Nothing — volume is the point | Geography and daily intent budget |
| Friendship | Bolt-on mode, shared pool | Undifferentiated | Separate BFF pool, no cross-exposure |
| What upgrades buy | More swipes, more visibility | Boosts and ads removal | Reach and privacy — never more messages at people |
Positioning claim, not a competitive audit — name the specific comparators you want on the record before you present.
Trust & safety
Safety designed into the mechanic, not bolted on after.
Most safety features in this category are moderation — cleaning up after a product that allowed the behaviour. Reshuffl removes the affordance instead.
Approximate by design
Precise coordinates are never shared. The map shows a fuzzed position and a rough distance; Elite members can hide behind a ghost pin entirely.
Consent is the gate
Interaction is limited to profiles inside your unlock ring, and chat requires mutual outreach. No cold DMs, no message requests to ignore.
Verification on every tier
Profile review is included free. Community values are acknowledged during onboarding, and accounts can be deactivated or fully deleted from the app.
Market
A mature market with an unhappy user base.
Online dating is one of the highest-ARPU consumer subscription categories in the world, and satisfaction with the incumbents is falling. Fill these with sourced figures before you present — investors will check them.
$00.0B
Global online dating and social discovery revenue. Cite the source and year on the slide.
$0.0B
Your launch geographies, subscription-paying users in the 18–35 band.
$00M
What a credible city-by-city rollout gets you by year three, tied to the model two slides on.
Density beats reach for a map product: a 5 km ring only works where enough members share a postcode. Lead with a single-city land-and-expand story, not a global launch.
Business model
Subscriptions, live in the App Store today.
Three tiers, monthly or yearly, verified server-side against Apple and Google. Upgrades apply immediately; downgrades defer to renewal via store webhooks.
- Map within 5 km
- 20 requests / day
- Verification included
- Pan & zoom the map
- Unlimited requests
- See who reached out
- Travel pin, filters, 1 boost/wk
- Everything in Pro
- Ghost pin & incognito
- Curated requests
- Read receipts, 3 boosts/wk
In-app upgradeYearly pricing carries a ~50% effective discount. Store fee is 30%, dropping to 15% under Apple's Small Business Program and after 12 months of continuous Google subscription.
Revenue model
The assumptions, editable in front of the room.
Change any figure below and the outputs recalculate. Use it to answer "what would have to be true" live, instead of promising to follow up.
Steady state = new subscribers / monthly churn — the point where acquisition and churn balance. Lifetime value per subscriber = ARPPU / churn, net of store fee. Excludes acquisition cost, so pair this with your real CAC before quoting a payback period.
Traction
Shipped, in store, and monetising.
Verified milestones
- iOS app live — bundle
com.thereshuffl.reshuffl, Apple app ID 6764106422, shipped through review with map discovery, chat and subscriptions. - Subscriptions operational — StoreKit and Play billing with server-side receipt verification, renewal webhooks and plan-change handling.
- Full stack in production — API, real-time chat, media pipeline, push, and the marketing site at reshuffl.co.
- Android in progress — the React Native codebase and backend already handle Google sign-in and Play billing.
Fill before presenting
Request-to-reply rate is the metric that proves the thesis. If mutual outreach beats the category's reply rate, lead the whole deck with it.
Technology
Built lean, in production, on one codebase.
React Native 0.85 · React 19
One codebase for iOS and Android: native maps, gesture-driven discovery, Reanimated transitions, video, image compression and audio messages.
Node · Express · MongoDB
Geospatial discovery with cursor-paged streaming, Redis caching on plans and decks, Socket.IO for chat presence and delivery, S3 for media.
Store-verified billing
Receipt validation against Apple and Google, subscription history, deferred downgrades, restore purchases and renewal webhooks — already handled.
The proximity graph — who reaches out, who replies, who meets — is the compounding asset. It cannot be bought, and it gets sharper with every connection made in a city.

What this buys
- One city to real density — enough members inside a 5 km ring that the map is full on a Tuesday night, not just a Saturday.
- Android parity — doubling the addressable install base on a codebase that already supports it.
- Proof of the thesis — a request-to-reply rate and D30 retention that beat the category, evidenced rather than argued.
- A repeatable playbook — the city launch motion documented well enough to run in the next three markets.

The people worth meeting are already nearby. Reshuffl puts them on the map.
